Profile Overview

Dismas Mallya is a Partner at JODI & Associates and a full-time legal practitioner, heading the firm’s Corporate Department. He has a strong background in corporate and commercial law. Before co-founding JODI, Dismas worked for four years as an Associate in the Corporate and Commercial Law Department at FK Law Chambers.

In addition to his corporate role, Dismas oversees the firm’s financial operations with support from Ms. Juliana Meijo, a professional accountant who holds an Advanced Diploma in Accounts and Procurement from the Tanzania Institute of Accounts (Mbeya Campus).

Dismas’s key areas of expertise include corporate law, finance (particularly in banking and insurance), immigration law, as well as maritime, shipping, and regulatory matters. He has extensive experience advising companies on investment opportunities in Tanzania.

Dismas has led the legal and regulatory departments for three major Inland Container Depots in Tanzania: Jefag Logistics (T) Limited, Fantuzzi Investments Limited, and Dar es Salaam Inland Container Depot Limited. He has also worked on perfecting security documents for banks such as Standard Chartered Bank Tanzania Limited, NBC Bank Limited, and Eco Bank Tanzania Limited.

In addition, Dismas heads the firm’s legal/secretarial services and compliance for many of the firm’s retainer clients, including NIKO Insurance Tanzania Limited (now part of Sanlam), Tanzania Masigira Power Limited (an electric power generation company), and Tanzania Tea Blenders (1963) Limited. He has played a key role in forming business entities and obtaining licenses from various government authorities, including Municipalities and the Tanzania Investment Centre.

Apart from serving as a legal secretary for several notable companies, Dismas has also been involved in drafting and reviewing contracts for various clients. One of his major clients is Mara World Tanzania Limited, part of Mara Group, a leading investment conglomerate.

Dismas is an active member of the East Africa Law Society and the Tanganyika Law Society, which represents legal professionals in Tanzania Mainland.
